MYSQL DBA Cum Linux Administrator

Position Details:

Role:
Key Responsibilities:
• New Installations for MySQL
• Develop and support MySQL database replication, backup, recovery
• Monitor and optimize MySQL database performance and capacity planning
• Troubleshoot database issues, maintain database systems availability and scalability
• Develop and optimize database design for new applications
• Manage Multiple Linux OS (RedHat, CentOS, UBuntu)
• Configure Network Security through Linux IP Tables based firewall
• Monitor & Respond to incidents/ alerts, resolve incidents. (Monitoring tools like Nagios, Cacti, MRTG etc..)
• File System management and Disk Quotas bases on User/ Group
• Installing and troubleshooting applications that run in LINUX/ UNIX environment

Requirements:
• Min 2-3 years of experience as a DBA or equivalent. Certified MySQL DBA is a PLUS
• At least 2 years of experience with linux/ unix system administration, Linux Certifications will be a PLUS
• Demonstrated experience with MySQL database design, implementation, performance tuning, and capacity planning. Managing large scale database system is a PLUS
• Demonstrated experience with Open Source/Linux development and production environment
• Good team player with strong analytical, communication, and troubleshooting skills
• Able to work under pressure and multi-tasking capabilities
• Pro-active, dedicated, committed and responsible
• Knowledge of standard Unix services like SSH, FTP, NFS, NIS, LDAP, DNS, Samba, Sudo, LDAP, Subversion Servers,
• Understanding of User Account Administration – User/ Group creation, Rights
• Understanding of Logical Volume Manager, Apache, Squid, FTP, Mail Servers
• Understanding of Basics Unix concepts, file systems, permissions, ACLs, kernel configuration, processes, memory management in different UNIX versions, UNIX boot process etc.
• Strong scripting skills such as Shell, Perl
• Virtualization and exposure to tools like CPanel is an added advantage
